Connecting communities, preserving wisdom, protecting our planet
Our community workshops bring Indigenous environmental education directly to communities worldwide, bridging the digital divide and creating spaces where traditional ecological knowledge can thrive across generations.
Our Workshops
After five years of amplifying Indigenous voices through our podcast, we're expanding our mission with hands-on workshops that empower communities to preserve and apply their traditional ecological knowledge.
Panama: Water Guardians - Emberá Querá Youth Program
In the heart of Panama, 20 Emberá Querá children learned about water protection through traditional storytelling, art creation using natural materials, and practical conservation activities. Elder Tío Miguel shared the legend of the Chibiguí turtle, teaching the reciprocal relationship between people and water.
This workshop reconnected children with their cultural heritage while addressing modern environmental challenges facing their community.
Uganda: Food Earth Guardians Program
In the shadow of Uganda's Virunga Mountains, 17 youth gathered with an 82-year-old elder to create a community food forest using techniques passed down through generations. This intergenerational knowledge transfer created a space where wisdom that no textbook contains could be shared directly.
Participants gained hands-on skills in permaculture, composting, and sustainable food production while honoring their cultural heritage.
Philippines: Traditional Medicine - Healing Plants Program
In the Philippines, 22 students gathered for a day of traditional plant knowledge, learning to identify healing plants growing in their own schoolyard. Students learned the names of medicinal plants in their native language—names many had never heard before despite seeing these plants daily.
The workshop concluded with tree planting, creating a living pharmacy for future generations and preserving both biodiversity and cultural knowledge.
Our Impact so Far...
Through workshops that bridge traditional wisdom with contemporary challenges, we're creating lasting change in communities around the world.
- 59 Workshop participants across 3 countries
- 42 Youth engaged in environmental education
- 3 Continents reached with our pilot programs
- 5 Countries targeted for upcoming workshops
Why Workshops Matter
While our podcast shares Indigenous environmental wisdom globally, it requires internet access, smartphones, and English proficiency—barriers for many Indigenous youth. Our workshops bring this knowledge directly to communities, creating spaces where:
- Elders share traditional ecological practices
- Youth gain hands-on environmental skills
- Cultural knowledge is preserved
- Local environmental challenges are addressed
